Dear residents,
Firstly the team would like to extend warm wishes to residents who have been celebrating Eid this week. Eid Mubarak to all!
Here is an update from your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.
On Thursday 12th March 2026 officers took part in Operation Elbert at Forest Gate train station. This Operation was run as part of County Lines Intensification Week and focused on drug possession and supply. Officers were deployed providing a high visibility presence at the station and a Detection Dog was present to assist. The proactive Operation was successful with sixty stop and searches conducted and five arrests made including;
One person arrested for Possession with intent to supply Class B, Dangerous driving, no insurance, Driving not in accordance with a licence and Offensive weapon in a private place. One person arrested for Possession of Class A and Class B drugs. One person was arrested as they had failed to appear. One person arrested for a breach of Criminal Behaviour Order and Possession of Class A drugs. One further arrest made for Possession of Class A drugs.
Ten people were issued with Community Resolutions for low level offences. Two Penalty Notice for Disorder were also issued.
This Operation was run as a result of direct feedback and concerns raised by local residents concerning drug use across Forest Gate and the surrounding area. Following the success of this Operation, the team will take steps to explore the use of this tactic and others going forward.
