Dear Resident,
The Redbridge neighbourhood policing team have launched Operation Moberly, an initiative to tackle the increase of theft of cars and mopeds across the borough. The operation was launched six weeks ago and so far, officers have made 11 arrests and recovered four stolen vehicles. Local officers have been working alongside traffic officers and the emergency response team so they can safely pursue and detain suspects who refuse to stop for officers. The combination of proactive patrols and strong teamwork has led to taking dangerous offenders off the streets and reducing harm to our community. The operation has demonstrated the value of evidence-based policing in tackling local crime trends. Alongside this work, our Public Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have delivered thirty motor-vehicle crime prevention engagements, providing residents with practical advice and reassurance. Acting Inspector Gerry Mathieson for Redbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The operation was a success, and it showed great work by the neighbourhood policing team in partnership with traffic (Special Police Constables) and the emergency response policing team, for the common good of removing criminals from our communities. Some really good results from this operation, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from residents proves the effectiveness of local policing collaborating with colleagues from different departments to achieve results. I am proud of all involved.” | ||
