I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Dear Residents, Good News!
We're pleased to share some positive news regarding Rowan Recreation Ground. It's not every day we get to open with "good news" and actually mean it- but today's one of those days, so feel free to put the kettle on and read on.
Officers received a tip-off from a vigilant member of the public concerning a male seen smoking in the area. Now, while we're not in the business of policing questionable cigarette choices, something about the situation clearly didn't sit right- and we're very glad it was reported.
Officers promptly attended the location, where the individual was stopped and searched. During that search, officers found a knife and 3 snap bags of cannabis on his person. He was subsequently arrested without further incident. He was charged and remanded.
This incident highlights just how vital the relationship is between members of the public and the police. Quite simply, we can't be everywhere at once- much as we might like to- so when people speak up, it genuinely makes a difference. Consider it a team effort, just without the matching kits.
Above all, we want to reassure everyone that we value the safety of our community immensely. Your awareness, your willingness to report concerns, and your trust in us all play a crucial role in keeping the area safe. So, if you see something that doesn't look quite right- don't hesitate to let us know. It might just be the start of another piece of "good news".
We'll continue to be out and about, doing our bit- so together, we can keep Rowan Recreation Ground a safe place for everyone.
We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.
