Ossett & Gawthorpe PACT Meeting - Community Update |

Dear Resident, The recent PACT (Police & Communities Together) Meeting for the Ossett and Gawthorpe areas was held at the New Spring Church, and it was well attended by members of the local community. We discussed a range of issues including: Wakefield Road: Vehicles parked potentially without Tax /MOT. High Street, Gawthorpe: Nuisance youths causing issues and potential drug in the area. Healey Road: Nitrous Oxide bottles found in the car park. Dale Street: Parking issues. Holme Way: Off-road bikes. In response to the above issues, NPT officers will: Conduct patrols and check vehicles on Wakefield Road. Carry out patrols around Gawthorpe paying particular attention to the High Street. Speak to residents and gather intelligence re potential drug dealing. Conduct patrols at Healey Road car park. Liaise with the Wakefield District Off-Road Bike Team regarding nuisance bikes on Holme Way. Following the issues raised at the previous meeting, NPT officers have: Spoken to residents Wesley St / Back Lane in relation to cannabis. Officers found no evidence to suggest that there was an issue at these locations. Carried out patrols on Westfield St; no drug dealing or suspicious activity witnessed. Conducted school parking patrols in the area around Towngate School. We have also: Issued Anti-social Behaviour letters and parents have been spoken to in relation to nuisance youths. Visited and spoken with pupils at Gawthorpe School. Carried out a licensing operation at a number of premises where a large quantity of illegal cigarettes and vapes were seized, Trading Standards are now conducting a full investigation.
