Good morning Riverside Beat, As we move into the Spring months, the beat team have refreshed our priorities to ensure we remain focused on what matters most to our community. One of our key priorities for this period will be tackling Thefts from Motor Vehicles. To support this work, officers will be undertaking the following actions, which is exhaustive: High‑Visibility PatrolsOfficers will regularly patrol car parks in high‑visibility. These patrols are designed to deter potential offenders and provide reassurance to people using these areas.Patrol times and locations will be targeted based on recent reports and intelligence.Community Engagement & Crime Prevention AdviceOfficers will hold local beat surgeries, street engagements, and drop‑in sessions to speak with residents and visitors.During these events, we will share practical crime prevention advice, including:- How to secure your vehicle and property
- Steps to reduce the chance of becoming a victim
- Reporting routes and what information is most helpful to us
We will also encourage the community to raise any concerns or share information that could assist our efforts.Supporting InvestigationsOur team will work closely with investigative departments to identify suspects linked to theft‑from‑vehicle offences.Officers will gather intelligence, review CCTV where available, and respond quickly to new reports.Working With Partner AgenciesWe will collaborate with local councils, car park operators, housing providers, and community organisations to address environmental factors that may contribute to crime. This could include improved lighting, CCTV, signage, and removing opportunities for offenders.Together, we will problem‑solve to create long‑term solutions for the community.Using Police Powers to Disrupt OffendingWhere appropriate, officers will use powers such as stop and search, arrest, and anti‑social behaviour legislation to target individuals suspected of being involved in theft‑related offences. Our priority is to prevent further crime and keep the community safe.
