Dear Residents,
On the 30th March, Fulham Neighbourhood Police Team supported Discover Fulham business improvement district at their cycle safety initiative. Officers spent the morning identifying cyclists who failed to stop at a red light as well as ensuring e-bikes met the legal requirements to be rode in a public place. After a busy morning, 10 cyclists received a fixed penalty notice for failing to stop at a red light, and 1 e-bike was seized and the rider reported. The e-bike had been modified to go twice it’s legal speed limit, meaning it posed a significant risk to other road users and pedestrians. Discover Fulham were joined by LBH&F Community Safety Team, and Lime, who engaged with the public providing guidance and friendly advice on how to stay safe. All partners were grateful for Lime’s participation in this initiative . A spokesperson for Lime commented, “Lime was pleased to support Hammersmith & Fulham Council, Discover Fulhamand the Met Police this morning at the cycle safety event. The event provided a valuable opportunity for us to engage directly with riders and the local community, promoting safer cycling practices and raising awareness of issues including pavement riding and red-light running. This initiative formed part of a wider campaign across Fulham, where police and partners are looking to engage with the public and encourage a safer environment for pedestrians and road users alike.
