Witness appeal following burglary at Stevenage jewellers |

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a burglary at a jewellers in Stevenage. Police were called to report a break-in at around 2.05am on Monday (30 March) at the John Lyons Jewellers in Westgate Shopping Centre. It was reported that three men wearing motorbike helmets arrived on two adventure type motorbikes, broke into the shopping centre and then used an angle grinder to get into the store’s shutters before taking jewellery and making off. Detective Constable Darren Lomax, of the Stevenage Criminal Investigation Department, said: “We’re at a very early stage of the investigation, exploring various lines of enquiry and would like to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to get in touch. “I’d like to hear from anyone with dash cam footage of adventure type motorbikes travelling on roads in the town centre at the time of the burglary. “If you can help, I can be contacted by email via darren.lomax@herts.police.uk.” You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 43 of 30 March. Tips to prevent burglary: Check windows and doors are secured before leaving the premises Ensure burglar alarms are set correctly when premises are closed. Consider using CCTV cameras or a monitored burglar alarm. Don’t leave valuables in visible places. Keep equipment locked away, that could be used to break into your premises.
