Hertfordshire Constabulary – Community Warning on Graffiti and Criminal Damage

Hertfordshire Constabulary is aware of recent increases in graffiti, related criminal damage and residents front doors being kicked in the Codicote area. We are working with Codicote Parish Council and North Herts Council to identify those responsible and to prevent further incidents.

Graffiti is not a harmless act. It is a criminal offence under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 and carries significant consequences. Damage caused to public buildings, street furniture, signs, parks or private property not only spoils the appearance of the village but also costs local taxpayers money to remove.

Our Response

Officers are increasing patrols in affected areas and reviewing CCTV opportunities. We are also encouraging residents to report incidents promptly to help us identify patterns and offenders.
