We are aware of a scam circulating in your area.
We have had a number of reports that when people are selling items on local online selling pages such as Facebook and Gumtree they have been paid with counterfeit money ( Fake cash notes) . These notes upon first glance may look and feel genuine but it is important that you check them with detail before completing any purchase. Please see link from the Bank of England to check for counterfeit currency How to check your banknotes | Bank of England Main things to look out for : Serial numbers are not the same on notes Quality of the noteHologram image change - Tilt the note from side to side to check the words change between twenty to pounds if looking at a £20 noteLook at the metallic image over the window on the note. check the gold foil is on the front and the silver is on the back. Please help us raise awareness of this scam by informing your elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours.
