Community Reassurance Following Live Facial Recognition Activity - Seven Arrests

On Friday 20th February, NEWHAM Safer Neighbourhood  Police Teams (comprising BOLEYN, PLAISTOW NORTH, STRATFORD and EAST HAM wards) conducted a Live Facial Recognition Operation on GREEN STREET, alongside colleagues from the Facial Recognition Team.  In addition to utilising the cameras to apprehend wanted individuals, Officers were involved in engaging with the community and providing a visible presence to deter crime.  The operational yielded 7 arrests and 1 Community Resolution issued for possession of cannabis. This work highlights not only the hard work and productive joint working of the MPS neighbourhood teams, but with other departments to tackle concerns identified by the public and in bringing offenders to justice.
