Police in Bilston are working with Moseley Park School following the arrest of a pupil yesterday (16 March).

Officers were called after a firearm was recovered during a search of a bag within school.

The gun was examined by specialist officers and it was confirmed to be decommissioned – meaning it was not viable and could not be used.

No one was threatened and the weapon was not removed from the bag it was in prior to the search.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and brought into police custody. After making enquiries and speaking with the child, he was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

We would like to reassure the community that no students or staff were threatened and support is being offered to fellow students who may have been concerned by yesterday’s events.

Our teams, including specialist schools liaison officers, are working closely with the school and with other partners as investigations continue.
