Local Traffic Operation |
||
|
Good Morning,
On Thursday 26 March 2026, your local Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a traffic operation on Wigan Road and St Helens Road — two locations where we continue to see repeat driving offences.
Over the course of the operation, officers stopped more than 40 vehicles and carried out routine checks to ensure they were safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal requirements.
It was particularly concerning that eight drivers were found not wearing seatbelts or using their mobile phones. Each of these individuals was issued with a Traffic Offence Report. As a community, we have experienced two tragic collisions in recent years. These incidents serve as an important reminder that even the simplest safety measures — such as wearing a seatbelt — can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or worse.
Your safety remains our priority, and we will continue to take action to keep our roads safe for everyone.
Regards,
PC Chadwick
