Squatters Evicted

Today 1st April 2026 officers from the Putney Safer Neighbourhood teams strand were asked by a local business to assist them evict a group of squatters from a store on Putney High Street with just 2 hours notice. An Interim Possession Order had been granted by the court under Section 76 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. After conducting a dynamic risk assessment the officers met with the business owner and locksmith at the front if the premises and effected entry, during which a number of males and a female attempted to leave. This group was stopped and their details checked before being allowed to leave. The premises were left secure and officers left the scene after ensuring that no offences had been committed.
