Dear residents On the evening of 25th March to early hours of 26th March a van has been stolen from BOOT PIECE LANE. This was stolen without entering the property. Please keep your vehicles safe by following the following tips: 🚗 Everyday steps that really reduce vehicle theft🔑 Secure the vehicle properlyAlways lock the car, even if you’re only leaving it brieflyClose windows and sunroofs fullyRemove keys from sight inside the home – don’t leave them near doors or windowsFor keyless cars, store keys in a Faraday pouch to block relay theft🔒 Add visible securityUse a steering wheel lock – these are strong visual deterrentsFit a wheel clamp if the vehicle is left unused for long periodsConsider a tracked alarm system, especially for high‑value vehicles🏠Think about where you parkPark on a driveway or in a garage where possibleIf parking on the street:- Choose a well‑lit, busy area
- Park close to your home or somewhere overlooked
Turn wheels towards the kerb to make towing harder📦 Don’t advertise valuablesNever leave bags, tools, coats, or tech visibleEmpty the car completely, even in “safe” areasSat‑nav mounts left on windscreens can still attract thieves🏡 Improve home security (prevents car & burglary)Lock doors and windows, even upstairsUse motion sensor lighting at the front of the propertyConsider CCTV or video doorbells covering the driveway🧾 Extra protectionMark the vehicle and key parts (SmartWater / forensic marking where available)Keep log books and spare keys secure and separate from the carNever leave the engine running unattended
🚨 If something doesn’t feel rightReport suspicious behaviour straight away (101 or 999 if urgent)Repeated suspicious activity should always be logged – it helps build patternsKind regards |
