ASB Lydd and New Romney

Hello all

We've recently had a spike in ASB in Lydd, but I've managed to identify a small group of teenage lads who appear to have been involved in kicking front doors. I've attended their homes and spoken with parents. Unfortunately for the lads they'd filmed some of it using TikTok therefore none of them are criminal masterminds!

All joking aside, this is a really anti-social type of behaviour which for the elderly and vulnerable is very frightening and unnerving so parents/guardians please have a chat with your children to prevent us turning up at your front door (I appreciate that this is being committed by a small minority) as the vast majority of children are little cherubs!

Today I received a report of a nuisance motorbike being ridden on the pavements in and around Carey Close New Romney and I believe it was being ridden by a youth with no helmet and very unlikely to be insured or even registered. If you have any information in relation to this, please email me and I will treat what you tell me in confidence.

I stopped three young polite lads today who were riding e-scooters in Greatstone and New Romney and all were reminded of the law surrounding where they can be ridden and their parents were spoken to as well. I believe in being fair, and because I'm not the ‘fun’ police, depending on the circumstances I will sometimes use my discretion to give the parents a chance to either sell the scooter for a legal alternative or be very strict with their usage (only to be ridden on private land with the land owner's permission) however, if they are seen riding them in public again, the scooters will be seized

The investigation into the damaged shop fronts in New Romney continues and if anyone has any information that they haven't already given to the police, please email me.

The following apples 365 days a year but as the weather appears to be improving and some of the roads of The Marsh attract some motorcyclists and car drivers who think that they're on a racetrack, please remind yourself of the….
