Update from your local officer |

Hello all,
Thank you to those who attended my recent police surgeries on the 27th March in Ramsgate town centre and today (4th April) in Acol, it was good to speak to you and hopefully help out with various queries. I’ve been able to give some fraud prevention advice, discuss traffic issues and problem-solving, and chat to councillors. All are welcome at these surgeries irrespective of which of my wards you live or work in. I’m really encouraged by some of the information which residents are feeding back to me lately, and am putting it to use investigating antisocial behaviour and crimes taking place in my wards. Since my last update, I’ve arrested a male whilst I was on foot patrol having initially stopped his car to check his documents. Following a stop search and some enquiries, he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and drug possession offences. I have also been reviewing reports of nuisance parking in various villages, taking reports for antisocial behaviour, liaising with councillors, and have answered around forty calls for service over the course of the last month. Please also be aware of an increase in phone scams from persons purporting to be from HMRC. This is common near the end of the financial year, and fraudsters will use this deadline to put pressure on recipients. This might be in the form of trying to make out that you have underpaid tax and owe HMRC or offering you a rebate, and scammers will often demand immediate payment and threaten prosecution if this money is not sent. You can report these scams direct to the HMRC phishing team, the details of which can be found online. As always, please do get in touch if you have any concerns or issues. Warm regards,
