Good Morning Hanger Hill Residents, We are aware of recent reports of phone snatches in the Hanger Hill area. Offenders often target people who are using their phones in public, especially near roads, bus stops and on quiet streets. We are carrying out patrols and working to identify those responsible, but your awareness can make a real difference. How to reduce your risk: Stay alert: Avoid using your phone while walking, especially near roads or junctions.Hold securely: If you must use your phone, hold it firmly with both hands and keep it close to your body.Be aware of surroundings: Look out for people on bicycles, e‑bikes or mopeds approaching from behind.Step into safety: Move into a shop, café or doorway rather than standing on the pavement when using your phone.Use headphones wisely: If using earphones, keep the volume low enough to remain aware of what’s around you.Insurance & security: Make sure your phone is insured, protected with a PIN/biometric lock, and tracking is enabled. If it happens to you: Do not chase the suspect.Call 999 if the offender is nearby or there is immediate danger.Otherwise, report the incident to police by calling 101 or online as soon as possible. Provide as much detail as you can. Please also look out for neighbours, especially younger people and those who may be more vulnerable, and share this advice with friends and family. Thank you for helping keep Hanger Hill safe. Kind Regards Sergeant Love |
