Dear Resident,
A local resident in Hertsmere has experienced a suspected scam call attempt. The caller claimed to be from the VISA card supplier and asked the call recipient to push ‘1’ if they did not attempt a transaction. When the call recipient attempted to call the number displayed on screen back, a message played saying, “this number is not accepting calls at the moment please try later”.
The call recipient did not engage and cut the line before contacting police and Report Fraud (Formally know as Action Fraud)
Please remain vigilant to scam calls and have a look at the advice on the Hertfordshire Constabulary web pages here.
Throughout 2026, dedicated officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary's Fraud and Cyber crime unit will be holding a series of drop-in sessions at libraries across the County. The next event in Radlett will be on 23rd of April 2026 from 1200- 2pm at the Radlett Library. Please see attached poster for other dates and locations, and we will be sending reminders to local areas nearer the time. 02C738AF9763DD3D5573FB466C7E6C96
Across Hertfordshire in 2024, Hertfordshire Constabulary received 5,278 reports of fraud with a total loss of £34 million. Fraud is when trickery is used to gain a dishonest advantage, which is often financial, over another person. Cybercrime is any criminal act dealing with computers and networks.
