I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Good news update- Grand Union Place/ Candle Street - St Dunstan ward
We would like to share a positive update with residents regarding ongoing work to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and drug-related activity in the Grand Union Place and Candle Street, E1 areas.
This week, while officers were on proactive patrol following concerns raised by member of the public, a vehicle was stopped and searched. As a result, two males were arrested for drug related offences. Both individuals were already known to officers for involvement in drug dealing and have previously been linked to ASB, particularly within stairwells of the apartment blocks at Grand Union Place area by the canal.
In a separate incident last month near Candle Street, officers identified a male acting suspiciously on a motorcycle. After attempting to evade police, he was detained and found in possession of significant quantity of drugs including over 100 deal bags, leading to his arrest.
These results demonstrate the continued proactive work being carried out by police officers, we remain committed to reducing and preventing ASB and drug activity in the area and will continue to act on information provided by the community.
