Officers from the Tudor and Canbury Gardens ward were on routine patrol when they were alerted by security staff at Sainsbury’s, Sury Basin, to suspicious behaviour involving three young males. Acting quickly on the information, officers stopped both individuals to carry out a search.
During the stop and search, officers discovered that one of the males was in possession of a large kitchen knife. The weapon was safely recovered, and the individual was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
This swift and proactive action highlights the importance of partnership working between local police and security staff, as well as the value of visible patrols in preventing harm. By removing a dangerous weapon from the streets, officers helped protect the public and reinforced their commitment to keeping the community safe.
