Dear Residents, As we move into the summer months, we would like to kindly remind residents that there can be an increase in burglary offences, particularly as people spend more time away from home or outdoors. By taking a few simple precautions, you can help reduce the risk to your property and support a safer community. Securing your home: Please ensure that all doors and windows are closed and locked when leaving your property, even for short periods or when you are in the garden. Where possible, remove keys from locks and keep them out of sight.Keeping valuables out of view: Items such as car keys, jewellery and electronic devices should be kept away from windows and doors where they cannot be easily seen. It is also helpful to avoid leaving packaging from valuable items outside your address, as this may attract unwanted attention.Maintaining visibility around your property: Well-maintained hedges, fences, and boundaries can help reduce opportunities for offenders to conceal themselves. You may also wish to consider external lighting or CCTV to further enhance security.Vehicle security: Please remember to always lock your vehicle and avoid leaving valuables inside. Additional security measures can provide further reassurance.Properties undergoing renovation: If your property, or one nearby, is currently undergoing building works, we would ask that tools, machinery and materials are not left unattended or in clear view. Where possible, please arrange for tools to be removed from the premises at the end of each working day. Ladders and scaffolding should also be secured, as they may otherwise be used to gain access to properties.Supporting each other as a community: If you are planning to be away, you may wish to ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property. Should you notice any suspicious activity, please report it to police so that appropriate action can be taken. If you witness suspicious activity, please report it to police on 101. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, call 999 immediately. Thank you for your continued support in helping to keep our neighbourhood safe.
