Hello Coenraad,

My name is Rashmee and I support Neighbourhood Watch coordinators in Greenwich Park, Greenwich Peninsula, Greenwich Creekside, East Greenwich and Blackheath Westcombe.

I have just approved your scheme and it is now part of NW family. Congratulations. (I've attached an image of its coverage area on the map.)

Welcome to Neighbourhood Watch! It’s great to have you as part of our growing community of volunteers making a real difference.

This note to introduce myself and ask if I can help with anything at all.

The pleasures and the pains of being a NW coordinator is something I understand very well, as I’ve been coordinator of the Aldeburgh & Fearon Streets NW just up the road from you for nearly a decade.

Two quick points you may want to consider for your scheme – no rush:

Signing up new members: If you already know your neighbours you can ask them directly to be part of your NW scheme. If you don't know them, perhaps you might consider slips pushed through their door. If there is a WhatsApp group for your street/area, you could ask residents if they want to join. However you do it, you'll be glad to know there are various ways to register your new members and keep their data secure. You could do it via your Neighbourhood Watch member platform. It's a great way to manage your own data, preferences, and schemes from a single online platform. To log in you can click HERE.

Being visible: We know that more than 80% of people that go into a visible Neighbourhood Watch area feel safer. I can help you with stickers and signs, which are proven to make criminals think twice.

Bringing the community closer: Perhaps you want to think of ways to bring the community closer together? As we all know, a close community is a more resilient one. We have a number of suggestions that have worked quite well over the years and would be happy to point you towards these.
