🚨 Community Safety Alert – Police Impersonation Scam Trend in Ashford 🚨

We are making residents in Ashford aware of a recent increase in scam phone calls yesterday from people pretending to be police officers.
 

Some callers are claiming to be a Detective from Hammersmith Police Station. They may say your credit card has been found with someone who has been arrested, and then ask you to confirm your bank or card details. Please be reassured this is a scam.
 

✅ The police will never ask for your bank details, card numbers, PIN, or passwords over the phone
✅ If you receive a call like this, hang up straight away
✅ Do not feel rushed or pressured – that is how scammers operate
✅ Contact the Telephone Preference Service to opt out from unknown calls.
✅Contact ‘Truecall’ on 0800 0336339 or www.truecall.co.uk to block calls; or your service provider.
✅ If you are unsure, hang up and speak to a trusted family member or friend, or contact the police yourself using 101 and ask them to confirm their ID / Reference number.
