Section 35 Dispersal Order 17/04/2026-19/04/2026

Good afternoon All,

Due to reports of Anti-Social Behaviour around Beckenham Place Park last week and intelegence that these events may be repeated this weekend. A setction 35 dispersal order has been authorised by Inspector McLaughlin.

This dispersal Order will run from 4pm on the 17th April to 3:59pm on the 19th April, and will cover the area outlined in red in the image below.

This grants the power for a PCSO or a Police Officer (The Disperser) to direct a person to leave a specified area for a period of up to 48 hours. 

To be directed to leave the disperser should have reasonable grounds to suspect that the behaviour of the person  has contributed or is likely to contribute to ASB or crime and disorder in the specified area.

A direction to leave under section 35 must be given in writing, unless it is not reasonable to do so. It must also specify the area to which it relates.

The Disperser may impose requirements as to the time by which the person must leave the area and the manner in which they must leave (including the route).

The Disperser must (unless it is not reasonably practicable) tell the person to whom the direction, that failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the direction is an offence and they may be arrested for for it.

If a Police Officer reasonably believes that the person to whom the direction is given is under the age of 16, the Police Officer may remove the person to a place where they live or a place of safety.
