Dear Resident; Since my appointment as the Neighbourhood Sergeant for Saddleworth & Lees on 09/03/26, I have attended two Road Traffic Collisions at Denshaw Crossroads – Oldham Road, Junctions with Rochdale Road, Huddersfield Road and Delph Road. I have been in consultation with the Local Authority (OMBC) in particular Highways and Engineering. I am please to inform that the area of Denshaw Crossroads has now be subject to improvements with all road markings being replaced.
Further work is planned to replace road signage and improved/ enhanced information signs aligning the road and at the junctions. I hope that these amendments will have a positive impact for road users and pedestrians using the area and will prevent/ reduce any further collisions.
Speeding remains one of the main issues for the area and is a contributing factor to some RTCs – as such my team and I will continue to conduct Speed Awareness/ Enforcement checks both at Denshaw, and across the Saddleworth area.
I can report that OMBC have confirmed plans to install average speed cameras on Oldham Road, Denshaw; however, the timeframe for this work has not yet been determined.
I would like to thank the local residents for their information and raising the issues of concern to us, your Neighbourhood Team – Please can I ask that you continue to report these issues to us so that we can take some positive action.
(Pictures are before and after). Best Regards, PS 1650 Andy Holian – Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant.
