With the warmer weather, we understand that young people may be tempted to enter the water at the Clayhole in Hindley Green. While it may look inviting, this water is extremely dangerous.

The water can be much colder than expected, even on warm days, leading to cold water shock
Hidden depths, steep drop-offs, and debris make swimming unpredictable
The water quality is unknown and can pose serious health risks
There is no lifeguard or safety equipment on site
Sadly, entering open water like this can quickly turn into a life‑threatening situation.
