Bogus Police Callers on Landline |
||
|
Criminals impersonating Police Officers and Detectives have been calling elderly residents in Pimlico. During these phone calls, bogus detectives will state: That they are a Detective Constable from Hammersmith Police Station and the victim’s bank card was found on a suspect who has been arrested, and that they needed further bank details to confirm the victim’s ownership. This is a common scam and particular target the elderly and vulnerable as they are seemed as an easy target. Fraudsters typically sell of a bunch landline numbers and target them by pretending to be someone they are not to obtain their bank details. Police Officer’s warrant numbers always start with a P followed by 6 numbers. Officers would never ask to confirm bank details over the telephone and if you suspect the call is a scam, hang up and call 101 to report. | ||
