Dear Resident,
A drink driver who led officers on a pursuit around Hampton has been banned from the roads.
Cieren Brownsword, 35, was tailgating other drivers on the A15 in Hampton in his black Land Rover Discovery when officers spotted him at about 2.35am on 21 December.
When they illuminated their blue lights, he failed to stop and drove off along Clayburn Road.
They pursued Brownsword through Hampton, as he broke speed limits, including driving at nearly 60mph in a 30mph zone.
During the seven-minute pursuit he also drove on the wrong side of the road, ignored red lights, mounted pavements, went the wrong side of a keep left bollard and nearly collided with oncoming traffic.
Brownsword, of Hempsted, Peterborough, admitted drink driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
On Tuesday, 21 April, at Cambridge Crown Court, he was disqualified from driving for three years. He was also ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and 15 days of rehabilitation activity.
Footage from the pursuit is available on our YouTube channel.
You can read more about the case on our website.
Kind regards,
