Dear all,
Following receipt of a number of emails from local residents raising concerns regarding a business, which operates from Kingston as a second-hand car dealership selling vehicles on Auto-Trader. The team attended various locations around Ham Common leading towards Ham Street, and junction of Dukes Avenue with Dysart Avenue. During this visit, we observed a number of vehicles listed on the companies website, and on the Auto Trader website.
Checks were conducted on the vehicles present and, at the time of inspection, all vehicles checked were confirmed to be taxed and insured.
Following a review of the relevant provisions of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 we agree that, based on the information provided and observations made, the activity described appears to fall within the scope of offences relating to the parking of multiple vehicles for sale on public roads. However, enforcement of this legislation sits primarily with the local authority.
In light of this, all information received, along with the findings from our attendance and vehicle checks, has been passed to a relevant contact within Kingston Council who deals with antisocial behaviour matters. They have been asked to review the information in full and take any action deemed appropriate within their enforcement powers.
We fully acknowledge the wider concerns raised by residents in relation to public safety, parking availability, environmental impact, and disruption to the local community, particularly given the proximity to Ham Green, Ham Parade and local facilities. This will be something we continue to monitor closely and will work in conjunction with Kingston council if they require our assistance.
Please continue to report any further incidents or sightings, including dates, times, locations and photographic evidence, as this assists both police and local authority partners in monitoring the situation and responding appropriately.
Thank you again for your engagement and for bringing these matters to our attention.
