Community speed watch , New Road, Buxworth |

This afternoon our brilliant Community Speed Watch volunteers were out on New Road, Buxworth, carrying out a speed watch session to remind drivers of the importance of sticking to speed limits and keeping our community safe.
Between 17:00 – 18:00, a total of 216 vehicles passed the location, and no vehicles were recorded as exceeding the speed limit – a really positive result and a credit to local drivers
Community Speed Watch is a community‑led initiative, supported by Derbyshire Constabulary, where trained volunteers monitor vehicle speeds using approved equipment. The focus is on education and awareness rather than enforcement, encouraging safer driving behaviour in areas where residents have told us speeding is a concern.
Speeding greatly increases the risk of serious injury, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists, and even small reductions in speed can make a big difference to road safety.
We will continue carrying out this important Speed Watch activity, as tackling speeding is one of our current Safer Neighbourhood Team priorities, raised directly by the local community.
Want to make a difference in your area?
A huge thank you to our volunteers for giving up their time to help keep Buxworth’s roads safer #CommunitySpeedWatch #DerbyshireConstabulary #SaferNeighbourhoods #RoadSafety #YouSaidWeDid #WorkingTogether
