Fatal 4 - Swannington

🚨 Swannington Priority Update 🚨

This afternoon, officers from the #ValleyBeatTeam, supported by colleagues from Response and the #BardonBeatTeam, carried out the first of several planned Fatal 4 road safety operations.

Earlier this month, road safety in Swannington was identified as a priority following feedback received at beat surgeries and via Neighbourhood Link.

Results from today’s operation:

• 9 drivers reported for speeding offences
• 2 drivers reported for not wearing a seatbelt
• 1 driver reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with their licence
• 1 driver issued with a Section 59 for anti-social driving
• 23 drivers issued with advice notices

The highest recorded speed was 53mph in a 30mph limit.

Unfortunately for this rider, they were also found to have no L plates displayed and were riding on a provisional licence.

Many riders who have passed their CBT choose not to display L plates, but it’s worth reminding those with only a CBT that failing to do so can result in fines and penalty points.

In this instance, the rider may face a ban, as provisional licence holders are limited to 6 penalty points.

👉 Some food for thought for those who think they’re “too cool” for L plates.
