Working together to support women and girls
This week officers and staff, joined by partner organisations, who were stationed in The Beacon shopping centre to raise awareness and offer support around violence against women and girls (VAWG).
While the focus was on supporting women and girls, the event was open to all, acknowledging that these crimes can, and do affect anyone, regardless of their gender.
Following on from last week’s Stalking Awareness campaign, the event focused on raising awareness of violence and abuse, online crimes, and contact and non‑contact sexual offences, and most importantly, showcasing the support available from both the police and partner organisations.
Officers, staff and partners shared practical safety advice, talked through what to do in different situations, who to speak to for help, and how to access support if something doesn’t feel right.
A big thank you to all the partner organisations who attended and helped deliver these important messages, including Crimestoppers, Mothers' Union Interventions Alliance and Advance. More support and advice online here.
