COVENTRY CITY PROMOTION |
||
|
We are joining with Coventry City FC and their supporters to celebrate their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
Along with partners including the club and the local authority, we have been planning ahead of the parade through the city on 4 May.
This will be a joyous occasion and we hope everyone involved enjoys themselves.
We will have an increased police presence in the area to help the event go ahead safely.
Superintendent Tim Robinson from Coventry Local Policing Area said: "We want to congratulate the players and staff of Coventry City, as well as their fans for what has been a brilliant season.
"We want the parade on Monday to go ahead safely and securely so everyone can take in the occasion and celebrate in the right way.
"Our officers will be out and about during the incident, as well in the days leading up to the event engaging with the community and helping keep everyone safe.
"We want to remind you to stay alert and look out for each other. If you have any concerns or if you see anything that doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and let our officers know straight away and we will deal with it."
There’ll be extra officers around the city working to disrupt criminal activity as part of Project Servator. High-visibility, uniformed officers deploy alongside plain clothes officers and are specially trained to spot the signs of hostile reconnaissance or that someone may be about to commit a crime.
There’s nothing to worry about if you see them - officers will speak to local businesses, members of the public and football fans during their deployments to remind everyone to be vigilant and report suspicious activity.
Deployments will pop up in unpredictable locations and use range of policing resources – some you’ll see and some you won’t. Some are easy to spot - like police dogs and drones, but we also use less visible measures such as CCTV and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition).
If you see or hear something that doesn’t feel right, let police or security know straight away. We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe, and you can help by trusting your instincts and reporting straight away.
Remember to call 101 if you have concerns, and 999 in an emergency.
A number of roads in Coventry will be closed for the duration of the parade, so visit the Coventry City Council website for all the details so you can plan your journey. | ||
