Teenager charged after police receive knife report

A teenage boy has been charged after members of the public spotted someone with a knife in Potters Bar.

Police were called at around 1.45pm on Friday 10 April, reporting that somebody had been seen with a knife near Potters Bar train station.

Officers immediately attended the scene and the suspect was arrested in Mutton Lane.

A 17 year old boy from London has been charged with possession of a knife/bladed article. He appeared at St Albans Youth Court yesterday.

PC Mahammad Rahman, from the Potters Bar and Shenley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We’d like to thank the vigilant members of the public who did the right thing by calling us straight away. We take reports of knives extremely seriously and thanks to their quick response, we were able to get to the scene and quickly apprehend the suspect.”
