Hedge End North NPT - Bank Holiday Weekend Update |
||
|
Good evening all,
We hope you enjoyed the lovely May bank holiday and made the most of the mainly good weather, if you were lucky enough to be having the weekend off, or even one day off.
Your local Hedge End North team were very busy and proactive over the BH weekend and here is a little look at some of the jobs that were completed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday late duties, by PC Amanda, PC Chris, PCSO Mica and PCSO Colin. Even Sgt Ralph was keen to get away from his desk, and went out on foot patrol around Hedge End with the PCs.
Our PCSOs were out on cycle patrols of all three Beats - Hedge End, West End and Botley, and they literally did not stop! If you see our team out on foot and cycle patrols, please do stop them and have a chat.
Our PCs were busy as usual investigating jobs and making lots of Crime enquiries, so they always have lots of paperwork to complete. But this weekend their jobs also included: PC Amanda completing Safeguarding visits to elderly and young persons - giving advice on how to keep safe from Rogue Traders/Scams/Fraud etc. Also completing Beat patrols on foot and patrol car to various areas of Hedge End North, including an area targeted by Rogue Traders (fraudsters committing doorstep crime) and patrolling local parks / recreation areas. She has also been busy gathering Intelligence, which will greatly help us to target drug use and dealing/supply in certain areas of Hedge End North Beats.
PC Chris was also working with DPT (quite often an NPT officer can be required to assist other teams) and has made two arrests of outstanding suspects involved in: A nasty Robbery in Southampton whereby a security guard had his eye socket and cheekbone broken. Also arrested was a female suspect for shoplifting in the Next retail store, Hedge End. She was also arrested for a FTA (fail to appear) for a previous shoplifting. Both suspects were processed through our Custody unit at Southampton Central station by PC Chris. This can be a lengthy and time consuming process.
As you are probably aware, PCSOs generally complete the majority of NPT patrols, and this weekend was exceptionally busy for PCSO Mica and trainee PCSO Colin.
Friday 1st May:- Foot patrol of Dowds Farm Park and Minchin Acres pond. Spoke to several groups of young people and politely asked 3 young people to get down from the youth shelter roof (for their own safety). Spoke to a group of 30+ young people gathered in the area of the shelter. Some of the young people took selfies with us. All of them were polite and causing no issues, it was lovely to see so many young people out enjoying the fresh air and public spaces made for them. Several groups fishing in the ‘No Fishing’ pond were asked to stop fishing and the dangers to people and wildlife was explained. All the ponds around the Dowds Farm Estate are all wildlife ponds, NOT fishing ponds.
Sat 2nd May:-
Sunday 3rd May:-
This is just some of the jobs completed by our team, and as you can see, there is never a dull moment! The attached Map is courtesy of PCSO Mica - from some of their cycle patrols over the weekend.
As ever, if you have any concerns or worries about problems and issues in your community, please do give us a call - 101 for non-emergencies and 999 for emergencies (if you or others are at risk of harm). Or visit us at one of our many monthly Beat Surgeries - advertised via Hampshire Alerts, Hedge End Facebook page, Police website - www.Hampshire.police.uk , local community notice boards and your community Parish/Town Council websites. Please come and talk to us face to face. We are looking at our Summer priorities and patrol plans, and want to know what concerns you and where you would like to see us. (YOU SAID - WE DID).
Hedge End North Team are now on well-deserved rest days and will be back on Wednesday morning. See you then! We leave you in the capable hands of our DPT 24/7 Response teams.
Thank your for reading, and lastly a quick shout out to Hedge End Rangers youth football team who won their game on Saturday at Stoneham (4-2!) Well done all! It was great to see some of you celebrating in Hedge End village centre on Saturday! All in all a very productive weekend!
