Suspicious Activity – Doorstep Safety Reminder |

Suspicious Activity – Doorstep Safety Reminder Staffordshire Police have received several reports over the past two days regarding suspicious behaviour involving a male, or group of males, knocking on doors and observing residential properties in the Bilbrook area. One incident occurred on Hubbard’s Grove and surrounding streets on 05/05/2026, where a male reportedly approached properties using differing explanations. These included stating that he had fallen over or had walked through grass and had pollen on his trousers, and requesting a wet wipe. A second report was received from Homefield Road, Bilbrook, where a group of approximately six to seven males were observed watching houses at around 20:55 hours on 04/05/2026.
Following these reports, residents are reminded to remain vigilant when answering their doors, particularly if the reason for the visit appears unusual or inconsistent. Such behaviour may be linked to distraction burglary, where offenders attempt to divert attention in order to gain access to a property. Anyone attending a property on official business will carry valid identification, such as an ID card, and should be willing to present this when requested. If you are unsure or feel uncomfortable, do not open the door. Any suspicious doorstep activity should be reported via 101 or through the Staffordshire Police website, to help local officers identify and respond to potential incidents in the area. | ||
