Cold Caller Muxton. |
||
|
Good morning Residents,
On Saturday 2nd May 2026 we were made aware of people knocking doors in the Muxton area, people were said to be enquiring if residents wanted any work completing, whether it be cleaning of driveways, or to carry out some flat roof works. This message is being sent in relation to cold callers and possible rouge traders who have been known to operate in similar ways.
While all cold callers, or door to door sales may not be a scam, we thought it would be best to pass on some relevant advice -
You rights are to ask the person to leave, or not engage at all, if the person refuses to leave you can report this to Police, 101 is the non-emergency number and 999 is for emergencies.
Citizens Advice Bureau also offers the following advice -
"If you think a business has broken the law or acted unfairly, you can report them to Trading Standards.
Trading Standards use the information you give them to investigate unfair trading and illegal business activity, like rogue traders and scams.
Trading Standards can take businesses to court or stop them operating, but they won’t help you fix your problem - for example, they can’t help you get a refund."
More information around this can be found on the Citizens Advice website link below -
Reporting to Trading Standards - Citizens Advice
Kind regards,
James.
