Ward Newsletter Update – 5th May 2026 This week has so far been packed with high-impact policing activity, with officers taking more offenders off the streets to keep our community safe.
Officers tracked down and arrested a male who was wanted for failing to appear at court. A further search uncovered a quantity of cannabis, so he was further arrested for possession with intent to supply. Another clear example of proactive policing disrupting crime at every opportunity.
A highly successful Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation in Woolwich Town Centre led to multiple arrests (12), identifying wanted individuals and removing them from the streets. These operations are proving to be a powerful tool in targeting offenders and protecting the public.
The momentum didn’t stop there. While returning from the operation, officers detained a male on the Woolwich Dockyard ward who had been evading capture for burglary. Thanks to the outstanding skill of one of our PCSOs, an exceptional super recogniser, the suspect was spotted, identified, and swiftly arrested by the team. A brilliant example of sharp instincts, experience, and teamwork leading to results. As always, please contact us if you have any concerns relating to anti social behaviour or crime in your area, or if you need any crime prevention advice. We do listen and act upon your concerns. If a crime is happening now or you are concerned for your safety, always call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
kind regards,
PCSO Laura Rapley
