With many residents planning holidays and trips abroad, we’d like to remind everyone to take extra care to keep your property secure while you’re away.

Simple steps can make a big difference:

• Ensure all doors and windows are locked before you leave.
• Use timer switches for lights to make your home look occupied.
• Ask a trusted neighbour, friend or family member to keep an eye on your property.
• Avoid sharing holiday plans or live updates on social media.
• Move valuables out of sight and consider using a safe.
• Secure sheds, garages and garden gates.
• Leave no spare keys outside the property.

If you notice anything suspicious in your area, please report it to police. In an emergency, always dial 999.
