Drug Free and Clean Areas

We are aware of a number of discarded nitrous oxide (NOS) and CO₂ canisters being found on quieter streets, including the Ball Street (Park) and Mulberry Close areas. The possession and misuse of nitrous oxide for recreational purposes is illegal. 

Discarded canisters pose a risk to the public, particularly children, and to street cleaning and waste staff, as well as causing littering.

Those found using, possessing or discarding canisters may face police action, including seizure, fines or prosecution. Discarding canisters is also an offence and contributes to littering and environmental harm.

Anyone found using or discarding these canisters may face police action. We ask residents to act responsibly, dispose of waste properly, and report any concerns to the police to help keep these areas safe and clean.
