Update on Thornley Pump Track

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding anti-social behaviour from youths, which people where you live are highlighting as an issue of concern in their survey responses.

There has recently been an update to the Thornley Pump Track following damage caused by off-road bikes shortly after the track first opened.

Local officers have been working alongside Thornley Parish Council and Durham County Council to address the issue and identify ways to prevent further damage in the future.

A crime prevention survey was carried out by Durham Constabulary, with funding provided by DCC MAPS (Multi Agency Problem Solving) and Thornley Parish, to install large boulders around the track. These measures are intended to prevent off-road bikes from accessing the area and causing further damage.

We hope these improvements will allow the track to be used appropriately, providing a safe and enjoyable space for young people to socialise and make proper use of the facilities.
