VEHICLE THEFT |
||
|
Dear resident,
We have been made aware of an increase in incidents relating to THEFT OF VEHICLES/MOTORBIKES in the area.
PLEASE BE VIGILANT AND REPORT SHOULD YOU BE A VICTIM OF VEHICLE THEFT!
Below are some useful tips to help keep your vehicle/bike secure:
LOCK WINDOWS AND DOORS Make sure any doors are locked and windows shut when leaving your vehicle unattended.
DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES Ensure all valuables are removed from the vehicle when leaving it unattended.
WHERE YOU PARK Try and park in a well lit area or in a contained space like a garage. If you are the owner of a motorbike, when not in use, try to keep it in a safe, secure location e.g. within a garage or back garden to deny easy access.
ALARM SYSTEMS Where possible, install an alarm system on your vehicle.
VISIBLE DETERRENTS Utilise visible deterrents like steering wheel locks to protect your vehicle. Use multiple different locks on a motorbike to create a further layered security system. Use a motorbike cover where possible. Motion sensor lights can also be used as a deterrent.
CCTV CCTV covering the location where your vehicle is parked can help to deter theft as well as provide evidence if required.
Your Local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting regular hotspot patrols in the area.
Should you need to report a theft or suspicious behaviour, please do so via 101 / the online reporting tool / 999 in an emergency.
Should you wish to speak with your local PCSOs for further crime prevention advice please contact: PCSO A Williams - 07773662918 PCSO P Williams - 07805301643
