Elmdon Crime Updates 8th May to 16th May 2026 |
||
|
Good Morning Elmdon Residents,
Here is your update for the past set between the 8TH and 16TH MAY 2026.
We have some fantastic good news to share with you all, but first, the weekly crime numbers.
There was a residential burglary on VALLEY ROAD on 13/5/26 between 22:50 and 23:00. The offenders have smashed the window panel of the front door and gained entry to the home taking various items. The investigation is ongoing.
As previously emailed this week, there was a theft of motor vehicle from ELMDON PARK CAR PARK on 12/5/26 between 20:00 and 20:07. Multiple unknown offenders with balaclavas on Surron bikes have stolen this vehicle and made off. Fortunately, officers worked with the owner to locate this vehicle within the hour and return it back to them. The investigation is ongoing to identify the offenders.
Good News: This past week the team has been working flat out to tackle what quickly emerged as a significant problem in the Solihull area. A male was seen trying car door handles on dozens of cars in every corner of the borough getting into some and carrying out a number of thefts from these cars. He stole from the honest hardworking people of Solihull and the team made it a priority to get him in handcuffs and behind bars. We were able to identify 33 offences linked to this male, including theft from motor vehicle, attempt theft from motor vehicle, and vehicle interference. We made two initially unsuccessful arrest attempts in Birmingham after identifying the offender and tracking him to a number of locations. Undeterred, we followed new leads and put in place a plan to catch him. Thankfully the hard work and determination paid off and the offender has now been arrested, charged with 33 offences, and remanded in prison. Without people coming forward reporting these offences and providing us with footage we wouldn’t have been able to take swift action regarding this. Thank you to everyone.
The LEOS team have also recovered three stolen vehicles this week. A stolen car and two stolen motorbikes. One vehicle was stolen from WARWICKSHIRE and dumped in a SHIRLEY park. This has now been returned to its rightful owner. Another vehicle was stolen from CHESHIRE and dumped in BICKENHILL. LEOS officers have located this vehicle and it will now be returned to its rightful owner. The final vehicle was stolen from ELMDON PARK and within the hour it was located and safely reunited with its rightful owner while enquires are still ongoing to identify the suspects.
Safeguarding Advice: Please consider the use of a steering lock for your cars, and a wheel lock for your motorbikes and pedal cycles, to make it as difficult as possible for people looking to take things that do not belong to them! Ring Doorbells, CCTV, Anti snap locks, and home alarms are the best ways to help protect your home from intruders. Please always call us on 999 should you be a victim of crime and we will look to get out to you as soon as we can.
I hope you all have a great weekend and start to next week and as always, please reach out should you have any concerns about your area or wish to get involved with Streetwatch.
Regards,
