Nottingham Knockers |
We have had several reports of “Nottingham Knockers” or “Pedlars” in the local area. This is where groups of people will cold-call at addresses and look to sell poor quality items for inflated prices, and will often state that they are part of charity organisations or recently released from prison and looking to begin again and earn money. This is quite often proven to be false.
Nottingham Knockers will often be persistent, and sometimes aggressive, in their sales and will pressure members of the community into giving them their money. They may also carry “ID Cards” which are fraudulently made to make people believe they are part of reputable organisations/charities. Again, these are often false.
If you believe you have any of these individuals at your door, or are made aware of them in your area, you are not under any obligation to make a purchase. Close the door and ensure it is locked, and then call 101 or 999 to make a report to Police to make us aware. If possible, please also provide CCTV or Camera Doorbell footage, as this can help officers identify those involved and take positive action.
