||
|
Knife crime is a difficult topic, but understanding the risks and knowing how to talk about it can make a real difference to your child’s safety. This update aims to give parents and carers the confidence to spot early warning signs, start important conversations, and understand what support is available.
👀 What should you look out for? These don’t always mean something is wrong, but they are a good reason to check in.
đź’¬ Starting the conversation (even when it feels difficult) Open, calm conversations are key. Try: Listening without judgement helps your child feel safe to talk.
⚠️ Understanding the risks Carrying a knife does not make you safer. In reality, carrying a knife makes you more likely to be injured

📞 How to report For Young People: Young people may fear being labelled a “snitch”, but reporting concerns helps keep everyone safe. Remind them they can talk to a trusted adult or report concerns anonymously if they need to.
💙 Together, we can keep our young people safe. Your support and willingness to talk openly can make a real difference. If you have any concerns or would like further advice, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local neighbourhood policing team or your child’s school.
