Good evening everyone,
I hope you all have had a good start to the week. Please find at the bottom of this e-mail the dates, times and locations of this weeks Police Street Surgeries.
Firstly, a warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last week or two. These e-mails are now being sent to 1423 residents in Trentham and Hanford, which is fantastic! If you could please continue to spread the word about them to friends, family, neighbours and on social media – thank you.
Towards the end of the e-mail I have put the Smart Alert website and QR code for anyone wishing to receive these e-mails.
101 or 999? Recently a resident asked me about what is the right number to use, 101 or 999? 101 is the non-emergency number and 999 is for emergencies. This link Contact us | Staffordshire Police will take you to the Staffordshire Police website where there is some useful information on calling 101 and 999.
Increased Patrols – Newington Gr
Residents have asked for increased patrols of Newington Gr. I attended this locations on my last noon shift of last week and I have attended this morning and this afternoon (18/05/26). I am happy to report that I encountered no issues during these patrols, which will continue as frequently as I can.
Turnberry Drive – Speeding concerns.
I have had a number of concerns raised regarding the speed of vehicles travelling along Turnberry Drive. Therefore last week I delivered letters to every address in Turnberry Dr to raise awareness about the concerns and to encourage drivers and visitors to travel at a slow, safe speed. I have also encouraged residents to be mindful that there are large number of school children travelling through Turnberry Dr in both the morning and in the afternoon. Today (18/05/26) I completed a patrol of Turnberry Dr and was pleased to see that every vehicle that came and went did so at a safe speed. I will be returning to this location as frequently as I can.
‘We Knocked to Check You Locked’
Today’s randomly picked location was Lindum Ave.
This is an initiative designed around encouraging residents to check that they have locked their vehicle and property doors, with the idea being that we remove the opportunities for anyone wishing to carry out criminal acts on our area. The initiative is going really well and I am looking forward to attending the next location.
School Parking
I have received concerns from members of the public regarding parking on Meadowside and the surrounding streets during dropping off and collecting children from school. The concerns have been regarding parking on yellow lines, blocking pavements and speeding. Therefore today (18/05/26) I was present at the end of the school day to look into these complaints. If you do see vehicles parking where there are restrictions, such as Meadowside. If you could please let the Council’s enforcement Team know about the issues – its really important that we highlight where we are having issues and how frequently they are occurring. Reports to the Council can be made by visiting www.stoke.gov.uk If you have any concerns about the manner of driving, vehicles causing obstructions etc, whether at this or any other location, please report this to the Police by calling 101 (non-emergency) 999 (emergency). Non-emergency incidents can also be reported online at www.staffordshire.police.uk
Other issues that I have looked into today have been the parking around The Lea/Kennedy Rd
and also keeping an eye out for off road bikes that have recently been seen on the area.
