Anti-Social Behaviour- Westgate on SEa |
||
|
Dear residents of Westgate on Sea,
Following complaints of anti-social behaviour across Westgate on Sea, and recognising community concerns around this issue as we approach the Summer months, a multi-agency meeting was held on Monday 18th May 2026. In attendance were representatives from Kent Police, Westgate Town Council, and Kent County Council.
The meeting explored some of the recent incidents of anti-social behaviour, what action had been taken in response, and how to prevent further anti-social behaviour going forward. The meeting was very productive with a range of options identified.
It was identified that some residents and businesses were reluctant to report matters to Kent Police, meaning our data was likely not accurate. We also recognised that people were often uncertain who to contact. Two posters outlining the various reporting methods and which agency to contact were provided to Westgate on Sea Town Council for wider dissemination. The same two posters are attached to this message.
We have identified a mechanism to increase the information sharing between Kent Police and KCC Community Wardens by inviting them to a daily briefing. We are extremely fortunate to have Jason Gordon regularly in the community and this will undoubtedly benefit the working relationship with him. This will allow for a smoother sharing of information about issues in Westgate on Sea and involve them further in our response.
We have also explored the installation of CCTV cameras for prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour. This proposal will be explored further by Westgate Town Council.
If you have any concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour in Westgate on Sea you can either contact me directly, attend one o the Ward Surgeries, or join us on the upcoming Walk and Talk Event on 28th May 2026.
With kind regards Steve
