Glossop SNT - School Engagements
PCSO Buller from Glossop YET (Youth Engagement Team) had the pleasure of completing 2 classroom inputs today on ASB and Crime (GoodChoices/BadChoices) - Tuesday, 19th May, with Yr 6 Students (Ages 10 to 11). Firstly at St Lukes C of E Primary School, Spire Hollin, Glossop this morning, and then again this afternoon at St Mary's CVA Primary School, Gladstone St, Glossop.
We discussed :- ▪️Why do we need Laws? ▪️The age of Criminal Responsibility (which is 10). ▪️What is a Crime? ▪️What is Anti-Social behaviour (ASB)? ▪️Examples of ASB which can aslo be crimes and the motives/excuses! ▪️The Victim! ▪️Types of Crimes? ▪️The impact on the community and consequences if found guilty of an offence!. ▪️How to report Crime and ASB? - Who to tell? - How to use Fearless.org !
It was also an ideal oportunity for him to make the young people, who were seen today, aware of Operation Sceptre - Coordinated by the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) - which is the dedicated bi-annual national weeklong initiative to tackle knife and knife-enabled crime. All 43 Police Forces in England and Wales will take part during this week.
🔪 Operation Sceptre🔪 has the following core objectives :- ➡️ Enforcement ➡️ Amnesty Bins ➡️ Education and Prevention ➡️ Retail compliance
Glossop YET would like to thank the headteachers and staff from both of the above schools for their participation and assistance in allowing the presentations to take place today. Well done and also a big thank you to all of the young people who enaged well - with some very clever and well thought out examples and questions.
