Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for Ealing |
Dear Resident,
As the weather improves, it's only natural that people want to spend more time outdoors, and use our parks and open spaces. It's worth reminding ourselves that certain behaviours are prohibited under the Public Space Protection Order issued by Ealing Council. In September 2019, Ealing Council’s safer communities team introduced a boroughwide PSPO, with the aim of creating a healthier and safer borough for all residents, visitors and businesses. The PSPO includes parks, town centres, and Ealing housing estates. The Order introduces requirements and prohibitions that allow the council to target a range of anti-social behaviour across the different spaces, which residents and visitors of the borough have told us were causing a detrimental impact on them. The council can set its own restrictions, requirements and prohibitions depending on what is justified in the circumstances. Conditions vary according to whether the location is a park, or residential area, and can include, but are not exclusive to; Street drinking while engaged in anti-social behaviour PSPOs in the borough are enforced by authorised officers of the council, including: Breach of an Order is a criminal offence for which a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £100 can be issued. Failure to pay the FPN in full can lead to a fine of up to £1,000 on prosecution. Summaries of the PSPO conditions are attached below. Full details of the PSPO's and conditions can be found on the Ealing Council website.
