🔥 SMART ALERT: BBQ Safety Warning

With warmer weather increasing BBQ use, please take note of the following safety advice to prevent fires and injuries:

Never leave a BBQ unattended while in use.

Keep children and pets well away from hot BBQs at all times.

Ensure coals are fully cooled after use – check there are no hot embers remaining.

Do NOT store BBQs indoors or near buildings while still hot, as hidden embers can easily start fires.

Allow BBQs to cool completely in a safe, open outdoor space.

Be mindful of dry grass, vegetation, and surrounding materials that can ignite quickly.

Avoid using BBQs in high-risk areas, especially during dry or windy conditions.

If using a BBQ in a public place, ensure that BBQs are permitted in that location and follow any local restrictions.

Call 999 immediately and request the Fire Service.
